Dr. Kattesh Katti, is focused on unravelling the fundamentals of science that applies those principles
and new concepts in developing new chemical species at the macro and nano scales.
In the ‘nano-domain’, Dr.Katti interested in exploring biophysical, chemical, magnetic, nuclear and
photophysical properties, that are unique to specific nano particulates, toward the design and
development of sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic agents.
Targeted nanoparticles, which are created through the intervention of ‘Katti Peptides’ are being utilized in the detection of diseases at the cellular/sub cellular levels while radiochemical and X ray absorption properties of gold nanoparticles, embedded selectively within tumour cells/sites, are being applied for effective therapy of breast, liver, lung, oral, prostate and pancreatic cancers and various debilitating diseases which include Osteoarthritis and Parkinson’s diseases. Drug discovery approaches are built around a clinical translation motif as Dr. Katti strongly believes that discoveries should translate into value added products to ultimately serve humanity across the globe.
Green nanotechnology is at the focal point of Dr. Katti's approach to pursuing research in nanotechnology (and molecular medicine) as he strongly believes in the total elimination of toxic chemicals in the production of engineered nanoparticles.
Toward this end, phytochemicals occluded within plants, herbs or from various sources from Mother Nature are being used as electron reservoirs in developing 100% green processes for the development of nano constructs, and a spectrum of molecular medicine-conjugates, for use in a plethora of medical, agricultural, hygienic (antibacterial/antimicrobial) and technological applications.
Dr. Katti’s specialized scientific team has great experience in the design, development, modification, functionalization and characterization of metallic and polymeric nanoparticles and nanoencapsulations for a variety of applications.
Kavita Katti , Lead Scientist, in the Department of Radiology and Institute
of Green Nanotechnology, University of Missouri Medical School is an
internationally renowned scientist with over 30 years of research and
product development experience in the fields of Radiopharmaceuticals,
Nanoradiopharmaceuticals, Green Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine—all
intended for use in diagnostics and therapy of cancer and various other
debilitating discuses.
Kavita has made internationally recognized contributions with over 100 publications and over 25 patents and inventions in biomedical sciences including Nanomedicine, Nano Ayurvedic Medicine and in Radiopharmaceuticals (labeling diagnostic (Tc-99m) isotope with tumor specific peptides—for use in imaging of various tumors). Her seminal contributions in the fields interconnecting green nanotechnology with Ayurvedic Medicine laid the foundations for the discovery of a new medical modality called as Nano Ayurvedic Medicine.
She has pioneered the development of varieties of Ayurvedic-relevant nanoparticles including gold and silver nanoparticles using phytochemicals from Cumin, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Cloves and a host of Ayurvedically relevant herbs. Several products from a myriad of functionalized Gold and Silver Nanoparticles are being used in cancer treatment and in the treatment of deadly infections including COVID.
Kavita has published over 100 publications and presentations in numerous National and International Conferences. She is an inventor/co-inventor on over 25 issued/filed patents. Kavita has been recently recognized with the coveted ‘INGRAM’s 50 MISSOURIANS YOU SHOULD KNOW AWARD (2018)’—for her groundbreaking contributions in medical sciences.
